At her first appointment as queen, Mary of Denmark impresses with a modern look - and is celebrated by fans for it.
Copenhagen – This performance was eagerly awaited.
In “Den Sorte Diamant”, the annex of the Danish Royal Library in Copenhagen, Queen Mary (52) was on duty alone for the first time as the newly crowned Queen of Denmark.
At the “Elite Research Awards 2024”, presented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Mary opted for an almost complete look in blue.

She beamed, she posed with Christina Egelund (46), the Minister for Higher Education and Research, she handed out travel grants to doctoral students - Queen Mary confidently mastered her solo premiere as if she had never done anything else.
And the wife of King Frederik X (55) also set a fashionable tone.
Mary wore a navy blue two-piece suit from the British brand The Fold London. The wide-cut trousers are available for around 400 euros and the matching blazer costs just under 755 euros.

Queen Mary also wore snakeskin-look pumps by Gianvito Rossi, but another detail was an absolute eye-catcher.
Mary opted for bright blue nail polish - a choice that was well received by royal fans.

But why does an – admittedly eye-catching – nail polish cause such a stir in royal circles?
The fact is: model queen Queen Elizabeth II (96, † 2022) would probably have been “not amused” at the sight of Queen Mary's blue fingernails.

the Queen is said to have found bright colors on her nails to be “vulgar”, and for decades Britain’s monarch relied on the extremely subtle pastel shade “Ballet Slippers” from Essie.

Denmark's Queen Mary is now showing that these times are over and presenting herself as a modern monarch who can also wear bright blue nail polish.
