Landsberg – “Dancing is dreaming with your legs” is a saying from Finland.

And the Finns should know, after all there is even a dance named after them - the Finnish tango.

This couple's dance was not danced in the foyer of the city theater last Saturday, but the hips were swung even more euphorically solo to “Mama loves dancing”.

The event, actually called “Mama goes dancing,” was initiated by two mothers from Wuppertal.

They wanted to go partying again, but there were no parties that started before 11 p.m.

“Going to the club at 1 a.m. was difficult to reconcile with our family life,” the two explain on their “Mama goes dancing” website.

So they created a kind of after-care party for mothers that runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

These parties can now be found in many large cities such as Berlin, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Munich.

And even in a not-so-big city, the new event celebrated its premiere last Saturday.

Rebelz Sound from Landsberg brought the party to the city theater under the motto “Mama loves dancing”.

From 8 p.m. to midnight, mothers, but also all other women and even men from everyday life could dance.

Sold out quickly

The queue that formed in front of the entrance to the city theater was reminiscent of that of an in-club in Munich, where you can only get in if you are on the guest list.

In fact, you had to have bought tickets in advance for the party in Landsberg - there was a big “sold out” sign on the door.

Inside the city theater, party-goers were treated to an unusual sight, especially if they only know the city theater from the usual events.

Various light spots were aimed at the dance floor, the foyer, a disco ball dangled from the ceiling and a DJ booth was set up where you usually hang up your jackets.

At exactly 8 a.m. the music started and all the party people, including only a handful of men, stormed onto the dance floor.

Around 300 people danced to good old songs like “I wanna dance with somebody” by Whitney Houston or “I'm walking on sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves, which didn't need a remix to get the people going.

But newer hits like “Mangos mit Chili” by Nina Chuba or “Schüttel dein Speck” by Peter Fox also sounded through the many loudspeakers.

Äinschi and Antje from Fuchstal danced in the upper part of the foyer.

“The need for dance is definitely there,” they answer when asked whether the Lech city needs more dance events.

“There is nothing here.” Claudia and Ina from Landsberg also shared this opinion.

There are not enough offers and this location in particular is ideal for parties.

The ladies don't really like the limited party time.

“We always stay until 2 or 3 a.m., until the bitter end.

But that way you won’t be so exhausted the next day.”

We need this more often!

The dance floor on the ground floor became more and more crowded, and now some people were dancing in the upper part of the foyer.

Sonja from Landsberg is also swinging her hips here.

“We need something like that more often,” she says.

She is particularly impressed by the beautiful location.

Initiator Bastian Georgi is also satisfied with the premiere.

“The feedback was almost exclusively positive!” A few women only complained that there weren’t enough men there.

Otherwise there was an exuberant atmosphere - “the dance floor was full from start to finish”.

How good that the next party night is already planned for March 23rd.

Advance sales start on March 1st.
