For weeks there was severe flooding along the Helme in Mansfeld-Südharz.
The second highest alert level in the region has now been lifted.
Magdeburg - After weeks of high water levels on the Helme in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, the situation continues to ease.
On Monday afternoon, alert level 3 was lifted at the Bennungen gauge; the second of a total of four alert levels now applies, it was said on Tuesday from the flood forecast center in Magdeburg.
Water from the Kelbra dam had been drained into the helmets in a controlled manner for a long time.
This relieved the pressure on the dam.
On Monday the information was reduced because less water was now flowing into the reservoir.
The plan is to continue to control the release from the dam until Friday so that alert level 2 can be maintained.
