It is harder to win elections whenyou change your candidate midstream, Deputy Premier and Leagueleader Matteo Salvini said Tuesday after the defeat in Sardiniaof centre-right governor candidate Paolo Truzzu, who was imposedby Premier Giorgia Meloni over the League's initial choice andincumbent Christian Solinas of the Sardinian Action Party.
"When you change a running candidate it is more complicated," said Salvini, who is also the transport minister.
"It also applies to a mayor.
"But I will never be the one who, when things go well, it is my merit and when things go wrong it is the fault of others", he said referring to Meloni..
