7,215,256 people with the right to vote will be able to go out today (Tuesday) to vote on the future of their city for the next five years, in the local authority elections.

According to a Maariv survey, it is estimated that the turnout in the current elections for local authorities will be only about 51% - this compared to 60% in the previous elections, held in 2018.



This year, 25,126 candidates are competing in the local elections on approximately 3,768 lists.

In these municipalities, residents who oppose the only candidate for the presidency of the local authority will vote with a green ballot.

  • In 4 other municipalities: Beit El, Kfar Shamariahu, Ajjar and Metula there is only one candidate for the headship of the local authority and one list also for the council plenum.

When will we know the election results?

The counting of votes will begin with the closing of the polls at 22:00.
