Günther Jauch and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” are set on RTL Monday.
But ARD attacks with Felix Neureuther and an Alpine-themed evening.
Hürth – Just in time for the New Year, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” returned after a break and has been a fixture on Mondays on RTL ever since.
But the competition never sleeps.
On February 26, 2024, ARD tried to attract viewers with a report.
The popular athlete Felix Neureuther (39) took viewers to the Alps to take a look at the preparations for the 2026 Winter Olympics and their consequences.
But did the plan to outdo the competition work?
Günther Jauch leaves Felix Neureuther behind in the ratings battle
Günther Jauch (67) had to accept a sound breakdown in “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, but it apparently didn’t cost him any viewers.
According to dwdl.de
, a total of 3.28 million people among the total audience aged three and
over watched his candidates eagerly answer questions.
This gives RTL a market share of 14 percent in prime time.
Things were also looking good for young audiences: 0.61 million viewers from the 14 to 49 year old target group chose RTL on Monday evening.

Among the young target group, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” is in the top spot in prime time – because ARD was unable to deliver in a direct comparison.
A total of 2.51 million people watched “Play with the Alps,” but it “only” gave the station a market share of 9.3 percent of the total audience.
Felix Neureuther also had to rank behind Jauch in the advertising-relevant target group: with 0.45 million viewers, the first had an 8.1 percent market share.
What number of viewers set the record in Germany?
On July 13, 2014, ARD made television history: According to estimates, a whopping 34.65 million people watched the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 n.V.) on their own television sets.
Incorrect: People who watched the game during public viewing or in bars were not taken into account in this count.
The actual number is likely to be considerably higher.
Shorter broadcast time: ARD is still not left behind in the ratings duel
Although the primetime numbers speak for themselves, ARD doesn't have to be too unhappy with the result.
Despite the short broadcast time of just 45 minutes, the Olympic documentary attracted a few viewers.
Things didn’t go badly for “Hart aber Fair” afterwards either.
The talk with Louis Klamroth (34) also achieved a market share of 9 percent with 2.31 million viewers.
Among the young audience, it was at least 5.6 percent (0.31 million viewers).

The ARD should evaluate the two program items as a whole anyway - after all, the Neureuther documentary and “Hard but Fair” were thematically coordinated.
While the ex-ski racer dealt with the massive impact of the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina on the Alpine region, Louis Klamroth was concerned with mass tourism and its consequences for nature.
All in all, those responsible can record a solid result in the fight against the private broadcaster with the themed evening about the protection of the Alps.

ZDF, on the other hand, couldn't be beaten with the court drama “She says.

4.59 million people watched there, giving the Mainz station a market share of 17.4 percent.
The ratings victory was also hotly contested at the weekend.
Giovanni Zarrella (45) and Roland Kaiser (71) had to face Elton (52) and the “Beat the Best” comeback.
