Javier Milei
will open the ordinary sessions of Congress for the 2024 period next Friday at 9 p.m., sources from the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Decree 197/2024, released this Monday night by the department in charge of Nicolás Posse, indicates that "in use of the powers conferred by article 99, paragraph 8, of the National Constitution", the President decrees in his article 1st of the aforementioned that "
the 9:00 p.m. on March 1st is set for the opening of the Ordinary Sessions
of the Honorable Congress of the Nation, corresponding to the current year."
The president will give his opening speech there, before the representatives of the Chambers of Deputies and Senators of the Nation, in what will constitute
his first speech before the legislators
in which he will outline the objectives of his Government and from which the role of the Legislative Branch in relation to the failed treatment of the "Law of Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines."
After the President decided at his inauguration on December 10 not to address the parliamentarians inside the venue and speak from the Congress esplanade "facing the people", deputies and senators live with anticipation for what will be the incumbent's first speech. of the Executive Branch before them, where the 142nd period of ordinary sessions will be inaugurated.
