The German Bundestag recently decided to partially legalize cannabis.

If the Federal Council also gives the green light on March 22nd, legalization and the associated changes will become active on April 1st, 2024.

Adults then have the opportunity to legally possess or grow cannabis with certain requirements.

Nevertheless, there is criticism from many quarters.

Bavarian politicians in particular harshly criticized legalization, arguing that the effects of cannabis were being trivialized and that millions of people were being put at risk.

In addition to the proven dangerous effects of the THC-containing substance, an active ingredient in the hemp plant also has positive active ingredients that are beneficial to health and can be sold legally.

Three letters have been making the rounds in the health and fitness scene for some time: CBD.

The abbreviation stands for cannabidiol, which is obtained from the hemp plant.

But why is CBD traded legally and even used for health purposes?

In contrast to the intoxicating THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which can be addictive, CBD has no psychoactive effects.

This means: CBD neither makes you high nor addictive.

CBD is one of around 113 known cannabinoids that are obtained from the female cannabis plant.

The starting material is the so-called CBD carboxylic acid and is obtained from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant using gentle extraction processes.

Yes.

However, very strict requirements apply from the European Union (EU).

The THC content in products with CBD must not exceed 0.3 percent.

In addition, CBD products must be made from certified EU hemp varieties and may only be sold in processed form such as oil, drops or cosmetics.

Unprocessed products such as CBD flowers, tea and cigarettes are not allowed to be purchased in Germany.

Can you become addicted to CBD products?

CBD products cannot be addictive because CBD is not addictive.

THC, on the other hand, can cause addiction in some people.

The THC content in CBD products is usually very low and below the current legal limit.

However, it is important to ensure that the CBD products you use are from a trustworthy supplier and comply with legal regulations.

Additionally, you should note that some CBD products may contain additional ingredients that can be addictive, such as nicotine in some CBD e-liquids.

It is therefore important to carefully check the ingredients of CBD products and ensure that you only use products that contain only CBD or other non-addictive ingredients.

Overall, CBD is a non-addictive compound that is used by many people to support their health and well-being.

Oil is one of the most popular forms of CBD products because they are very well tolerated and are quickly absorbed through the oral mucosa.

They can also be used externally on the skin.

CBD oils come in different concentrations.

Beginners use low-dose oils with 5 to 10% CBD extract.

If you want a stronger and longer-lasting effect (up to 9 hours depending on the dosage), use oils with up to 30% CBD extract.

CBD oil should not be confused with hemp seed oil from the seeds of the hemp plant.

While this is rich in heart-healthy omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, it does not have the other health-promoting effects of CBD oil.

Caution: Do not inhale CBP oil

You can drip CBD oil directly onto your tongue and take it easily.

Another variant is to evaporate the oil in a vaporizer and then inhale it.

However, this poses major risks for the lungs: inhaling oil-containing substances from cannabis oils led to severe lung damage, respiratory illnesses and even deaths, an investigation found.

So definitely stay away from inhalation!
