Board elections will be held at the Hessian SPD party conference on March 9th.
There will probably be a change at the top of the party led by Federal Minister Faeser.
Wiesbaden - The SPD member of the Bundestag Sören Bartol wants to become the new Hessian state chairman of his party.
If he is successfully elected at the state party conference in Frankfurt on March 9th, he would replace Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser.
According to a party spokeswoman, there are currently no opposing candidates to Bartol's candidacy.
As the district boards of the SPD Hesse-North and Hesse-South announced on Monday, the Hessian state parliament member Josefine Koebe is applying for the office of general secretary.
According to statements from party circles, Faeser is no longer running for state chairman.
“At the party conference in March we want to complete the new Hesse-SPD team consisting of parliamentary group, government and party,” explained the district chairmen of the SPD Hesse-South, State Economics Minister Kaweh Mansoori, and the SPD Hesse-Nord, State Science Minister Timon Gremmels.
The 49-year-old Bartol is parliamentary state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction.
