The Isar should become more beautiful, cleaner and safer - at least that's what a new plan from the city of Munich envisages.
Munich - Our Isar: It invites you to walk, take a deep breath, grill and chill out.
It’s not for nothing that Willy Michl’s famous song says “Isar flickering in paradise”.
And the city is doing a lot to keep things going.
Because more and more people are flocking to the river.
“Especially after the corona pandemic, the use of public space on the banks of the Isar has increased even further and is still continuing,” writes the city administration.
With a new Isar plan, she now wants to ensure that nature is not left out in the cold: this will make our Isar more beautiful, cleaner and safer!
New Clean Plan for the Isar: City wants to continue and expand the “True Love is...” campaign
The Isar plan is to be presented to the city council's building committee on March 5th.
The paper is already available to our editorial team.
Accordingly, the city wants to build on the “True love is…” campaign.
Catchy slogans are used to draw attention to more nature conservation.
In this context, topics such as consistent dike lighting on the Isar and comprehensive WiFi connections will also be further investigated.
The building department would also like to set up additional collection containers for garbage.
There are currently 102 mesh boxes, 18 ash containers and six collection containers, 13 dog waste bag dispensers and additional garbage bag dispensers.
We are examining the possibility of equipping additional mesh boxes with “deposit rings” – i.e. additional surrounding containers for deposit bottles.
In addition, city employees should distribute garbage bags and pocket ashtrays with the campaign logo.
The new plan for the banks of the Isar: The city wants to set up additional mobile toilet facilities
The Isar cycle path should continue to be cleaned every working day, and the banks of the Isar should be cleaned every day when the weather is nice.
And: The city wants to set up additional mobile toilet facilities.
In addition, Isar raft trips are intended to promote a clean Isar.
In order to really put all the pigeons in their place, the Municipal Field Service (KAD) and the All-Party Conflict Management (AKIM) are supposed to be out on the river for a pilot test this year and support the Isar supervision.
According to the administration, not all conflicts could have been resolved with the measures taken so far.
“The issue of noise pollution in particular repeatedly leads to complaints in the area of some hotspots,” it says.
