Some want to get involved, others are looking for support.

The volunteer network has been making sure that both sides can come together easily for a year.

With success.

District

– Some want to get involved, others are looking for support.

The Coordination Center for Civic Engagement in the Miesbach district has been ensuring that both sides come together easily for over a year.

Under the catchier name Network Volunteering, Petra Winklmair offers consultations and workshops as a permanent director as part of the joint project between the Holzkirchen Community Foundation and the Miesbach Evangelical Church Community.

Winklmair is satisfied with the results of the first year - and is already planning the second big club day on Saturday, March 9th, in the Buntes Haus in Miesbach.

First day of the club a success

From Winklmair's perspective, the premiere in summer 2023 was better attended than expected.

Around 40 club representatives took the free offer home - and a lot of content.

Since one or the other in the densely packed program almost didn't have enough time for personal exchange, this year workshops will only take place in the morning before the participants can sit down at so-called topic tables after the lunch break and start talking.

This time the focus of the club day is: leading volunteer teams, financial and statute issues for clubs and social media.

Winklmair also “certainly” wants to promote the engagement platform.

The network is connected to this job exchange for volunteer positions and supports interested clubs and groups in submitting their own applications.

Like the entire club day including the lunch buffet, this is completely free of charge.

As reported, the coordination center is one of 21 throughout Bavaria and is supported by the Free State Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Affairs, the Miesbach district and the state association of volunteer agencies and centers.

Although the project period is actually designed to last three years, the funds have to be applied for every year, explains Winklmair.

Of course, the application will receive proof of the actions carried out.

Many actions carried out

The project manager didn't have a hard time here: whether it was a breakfast to network people who are responsible for the collaboration between full-time and volunteer work (e.g. at the BRK or neighborhood assistance), workshops to attract new volunteers and their long-term integration, without them overwhelming, as well as an online lecture on statutory law: “We covered a broad spectrum,” says Winklmair.

The transition between the individual areas is often fluid.

The number of offices could be reduced by changing the statutes if there are not enough candidates.

On the other hand, the responsibility could also be distributed among several people in order to allay the volunteers' possible fears of being overwhelmed.

The volunteer network itself also rests on several pillars.

Winklmair has succeeded in linking up with the already established neighborhood management in numerous communities and is therefore better represented throughout the district.

This means that you now have a contact person not only in the Holzkirchen volunteer agency Help and in the Colorful House of the Protestant Church in Miesbach, but also in Gmund.

Winklmair herself works twelve hours a week in Holzkirchen, where she is supported by a mini-jobber in the secretariat.

Since up to 20 hours per week are covered by the funding project, she is still looking for support for the remaining eight hours per week.

In general, Winklmair still sees potential in terms of content.

There is still “room for improvement,” especially when it comes to corporate collaborations.

Under the title “Corporate Volunteering,” companies can release their employees for voluntary work with other organizations or projects, explains Winklmair.

The volunteer network is happy to help bring both sides together and develop ideas.
