“Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser” was eagerly awaited by hit fans – but RTL also made a big splash on Saturday evening: with the comeback of “Schlag den Besten”.
Cologne/Offenburg – On February 24, 2024, there was not just one big show on television, but two.
ZDF went into the ratings race at prime time with the hit show “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser”, RTL sent presenter Elton (52) and eleven celebrities into the fight with the “Beat the Best” comeback.
The result was close - but there is a winner.

Both the hit event and the celebrity challenge were widely announced by the broadcasters last year.
ZDF revealed to

why the anniversary show for Roland Kaiser (71) was recorded months ago - and RTL also did not decide on a live event.
The revival of Stefan Raab's (57) “Schlag den Besten”, which used to be shown on ProSieben, was recorded.
But which show won the ratings duel?

The result was clear for the overall audience aged three and over: with 4.41 million viewers and 18.7 percent market share, “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser” secured
victory in the direct ratings battle with RTL, according to
dwdl.de.
In comparison, Elton's “Beat the Best” was watched by “only” 2.08 million people.
9.5 percent of the market shares are rather mixed.
However, neither ZDF nor the Cologne broadcaster were able to snatch the day's victory.
Both had to admit defeat to ARD and “ Zielfahnder – Polarjagd “.
5.45 million viewers and 21.6 percent market share in prime time were unattainable for the rest.
What number of viewers set the record in Germany?
On July 13, 2014, ARD made television history: According to estimates, a whopping 34.65 million people watched the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina (1-0 n.V.) on their own television sets.
Incorrect: People who watched the game during public viewing or in bars were not taken into account in this count.
The actual number is likely to be considerably higher.
Young audiences decide differently: “Beat the best” wins among the target group
Even if Giovanni Zarrella (45) and Roland Kaiser can celebrate when they look at the number center, the result in the advertising-relevant audience group gives them a small damper.
“Schlag den Besten” was in the top spot there.
Elton collected 0.74 million viewers and secured RTL a market share of 15.4 percent.
In comparison: “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser” only had half a million viewers (ten percent market share).
