Roland Kaiser always sings his hits in a velvety baritone.
In the past he was often confused with another pop singer.
Offenburg – Roland Kaiser (71) wrote hit history with songs like “Joana” and “Santa Maria”.
Even after many decades, the passionate singer still gives concerts and is still a welcome guest on television.
On Saturday evening (February 24, 2024), the legendary musician was celebrated with his own ZDF anniversary show “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 years of Roland Kaiser” - where one or two interesting anecdotes were shared as part of the show.
Pop star Nino de Angelo on similarities with Roland Kaiser
ZDF’s “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 Years of Roland Kaiser” show was a great success with the overall audience – understandable, because the star line-up was gigantic.
One of the guests was music icon Nino de Angelo (60), who performed the song “Break my heart” with the emperor.
In the following interview, the "Out of Eden" interpreter told the host Giovanni Zarrella (45) and the audience an interesting story about the emperor - the singers have known each other for many years and have often worked together.

“Do you know that we were mixed up back then?” Nino de Angelo reveals on Saturday evening on the ZDF stage.
“That’s Roland Kaiser, the one with the deep voice, because you also had that deep voice.”
But Roland Kaiser finds it difficult to imagine that.
“Oh, you’re much younger than me, my God,” the 71-year-old flatters his colleague.
The deep voice is not the only thing the two stars have in common, as Nino further emphasizes: “We also have a lot of health parallels in our private lives.
“We were really on the rocks.”
Roland Kaiser and Nino de Angelo: Same health fate
By this Nino de Angelo is most likely referring to the lung disease COPD, from which both singers have been suffering for a long time.
The fact that his good friend doesn't let his illness get him down is a great inspiration for de Angelo.
“I found that about Roland unbelievable,” he says about his role model in the “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 Years of Roland Kaiser” show.
“This man is just as much of a fighter as I try to be for the rest of my life.”

The ratings speak for a success, but the viewers were already very critical of the “Giovanni Zarrella Show”.
Many people don't like the fact that Roland Kaiser appeared almost exclusively in duets in his anniversary show and that the program was not broadcast live.
The guest list didn't appeal to everyone either.
