Highlights: Schloßbergler Theater brings enchanting “Feuerzangenbowle” to the stage. The protagonist of the comedy classic goes back to school. Markus Kienbacher in the leading role does this convincingly with verve and obvious enjoyment. The four punch connoisseurs also appear in dual roles as teachers and high school administrators, excellently equipped with masks, beards and hairstyles by Bernadette Weber and Judith Kirchberger.

Material with cult status has its pitfalls.

The Schloßbergler theater group from Valley masters this challenge: with the “Feuerzangenbowle” they provide great fun.

Valley

– The first scene takes place in front of the Schloßbergler hut in Valley: steaming Feuerzangenbowle awaits theatergoers with a delicious smell.

The punch is the title and starting point for the traditional costume club's well-known new piece, "Die Feuerzangenbowle" based on the successful novel of the same name by Heinrich Spoerl and Hans Reimann - filmed in 1944 with Heinz Rühmann - which still amused the premiere audience brilliantly: laughter was the order of the day.

The Schloßberglers had proven that they can do classics last year with Valentin, among other things.

When the writer becomes a student again

Sitting around a Feuerzangenbowle, four gentlemen of advanced age remember student pranks and teacher types, while the fifth in the group quietly follows the merriment: the prominent writer Dr.

Johannes Pfeiffer had a private teacher.

It is quickly decided that he should make up for what he has missed incognito as a high school graduate, and Markus Kienbacher in the leading role does this convincingly with verve and obvious enjoyment.

In the imaginative and fast-paced production and in front of the lovingly designed stage set by Sepp Floßmann (assistant Martina Hechenthaler), one gag follows the other without going over the top.

The long-serving actors in the troupe take the newcomers along very well.

The four punch connoisseurs also appear in dual roles as teachers and high school administrators, excellently equipped with masks, beards and hairstyles by Bernadette Weber and Judith Kirchberger.

Inventive and fast-paced production

Sepp Hechenthaler is wonderfully gnarly and jagged as the school director Knauer, known as “Zeus”.

Uli Frey wonderfully embodies the pragmatic teacher Bömmel (“we'll be completely stupid” when explaining the “steam engine”).

A prime role for Wolfgang Neuner is the cranky “Schnauz” with “not a single wacky schlock” of homemade blueberry wine for the students to explain alcoholic fermentation.

What follows is pure despair at the various intoxications of his students.

Also interesting: Schloßbergler director Sepp Floßmann in an interview: “The Bauernschwank is not my thing”

Sepp Weindl scores as a worthy high school councilor, of course also with quirks.

As Eva Knauer, determined music trainee and dear daughter of the director, Helena Epp not only beguiles the actually engaged protagonist Johannes Pfeiffer, but also the audience.

The tried and tested Gabi Neuner portrays Pfeiffer's caring, bigoted, secretly drunk landlady in a multi-faceted and funny way.

The delicious stage fun is perfectly complemented by the five classmates: Franz Gröbmeyer as the repressed Primus Luck, Jakob Hechenthaler as the cocky Rosen, Berni Weindl as the moderate but perky student Knebel, Hansi Huber as the follower Husemann and Beni Hagn as the mostly inconspicuous colleague Ackermann.

Finally, Karolin Dieterich aptly presents the strict Pfeiffer fiancée Marion, who tries in vain to dissuade her Holden from his role as a schoolboy.

As a successful Schnauz impersonator, he gets his Eva in a turbulent, precisely choreographed finale.

At the end, the guests thanked the audience for the ravishing performance with minutes of frenetic applause.
