Access to the archaeological zone of Machu Picchu in Peru has been blocked after several landslides in the communities around the tourist spot that occurred in recent days.
The authorities are working on rescue efforts in the area, with two Peruvian tourists missing and another 17 people injured as of Tuesday.
The private transport to Machu Picchu, the Transandino train, has suspended its operations, calculating that it will be able to resume the journeys in a period of two days.
Rains in recent weeks have also isolated more than 40 communities in the east of the country, with an emergency declared in 100 districts in 17 regions.
