The Geissens are used to luxurious travel in their jet-setting everyday life.
But in New York City they dare to use a means of transport that causes Carmen Geiss to break out in a sweat.
New York – The Geiss family is known for their luxury life.
Carmen (58) and Robert Geiss (60) enjoy traveling with their daughters Shania (19) and Davina (20) to the most beautiful places in the world and use comfortable transportation options.
A means of transport that was not previously part of this: a subway.
But in the current episode of their RTLZWEI show “The Geissens – A Terribly Glamorous Family,” Robert and Carmen “enjoy” New York City.
The two want to reach 57th Street as quickly as possible for a shopping trip.
With the busy traffic in the Big Apple, a taxi ride would take too long, so public transportation is the better choice.
Carmen and Robert Geiss: Subway ride in New York turns into a “horror ride”
Friend Melanie, who, according to Robert Geiss, has been living in New York “for years,” takes the couple underground with her.
“I've never taken the subway before,” explains the entrepreneur, which his wife doesn't quite believe.
“Of course you’ve ridden the subway before.
“You were young and poor once too,” says Carmen.
But her husband explains to her that he only rode the tram in Cologne back then.
Before going downstairs, Carmen Geiss changes from her high heels into flatter shoes in order to “go faster”.
“Let’s see if we survive this,” jokes Robert Geiss.
Carmen Geiss admits in an interview after the trip that she felt “extremely overwhelmed and totally confused.”
“I'm generally afraid of crowds, so I was totally out of place.
Our daughters would never believe that I would ride the subway in the USA.” She held on to her watch and rings the most “because I was afraid that they would steal something from me.”

If she had known that she would be taking the subway that day, she would have worn a jogging suit and less jewelry, emphasizes the 58-year-old, who, according to her husband, got on the train “draped like a Christmas tree.”
Her claustrophobia also bothers Carmen Geiss.
“I'll never do that again.
I'm bathed in sweat." Robert Geiss snaps another souvenir photo, "otherwise no one will believe me.
This is a real experience.”

“An absolute horror trip, a shocking experience, never again for me,” is Carmen’s final conclusion, while her husband describes the trip as “funny”.
After the trip, Carmen goes back into daylight and into safe territory.
She successfully searches the city's boutiques for a dress for a wedding welcome party.
