Jean-Luc Mélenchon said he was “dismayed” this Wednesday morning on TF1 by Emmanuel Macron’s statements.
The head of state assured Monday evening that the sending of Western troops to Ukraine was “not excluded”.
The leader of France Insoumise believes that “that would make us belligerents”.
For him, “there is no question of waging war”, especially since “all the allies have affirmed that they do not want to participate” in this initiative.
But he warns against “an escalation where no one knows the outcome”.

According to him, “we are neither Ukrainians nor Russians, and it is not true, contrary to the verbal escalation on the subject, that we are threatened throughout Europe,” he added.
For the same reason, he opposed the idea of providing a “nuclear umbrella” to European allies in the event of an American withdrawal.
A recurring debate relaunched by another recent statement from Emmanuel Macron on “France's responsibility to make its deterrence capacity available to Europe”.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon, for his part, calls for “a conference on peace” in which France must “be in the solution, not part of the problem”.
