The Au local council wants to set an example.

He is therefore sending a resolution to preserve the Mainburg acute clinic to the Kelheim district council.

The tenor: “We have a political responsibility to act.”

Au/Hallertau

- It was an urgent matter: At the request of the FWG parliamentary group, the Au councilors decided at the meeting on Tuesday to send a resolution to preserve the Mainburg acute clinic to Kelheim.

As reported, the Kelheim district will decide this Friday whether the Mainburg hospital will be downgraded to a regional health center without emergency care.

The market is vehemently opposed to this.

Demand: “Receive a full-fledged acute clinic”

In particular, FWG councilors Franz Asbeck and Beatrix Sebald have been fighting for the preservation of the acute clinic for a long time.

In order to give the votes more weight, it was now decided to submit a motion for the entire local council to make a statement.

The letter appeals to all Kelheim district councilors “to maintain the Mainburg Hospital as a fully-fledged acute care clinic”.

The facility is indispensable not only for the southern district of Kelheim, “but also for the entire middle of the Hallertau as part of emergency medical and basic care.”

Market town council should send a “political signal”.

Specifically, four things are required: on the one hand, not to make a hasty or short-term decision to further develop the clinic, and on the other hand, to intensively examine all options developed by the experts as well as other cooperation models.

In addition, the emergency clinic status with the inpatient emergency room and surgery, internal medicine including cardiac catheter laboratory and intensive care unit must be maintained “in any case”. The same applies to the endoprosthetics center and the vocational school for nursing in Mainburg.

At the meeting, Asbeck emphasized: “We are politically responsible to act and have to stand with our citizens on this matter.” Sebald agreed with him: The entire market town council should send a “political signal” to the neighboring district - also at the state level Federal level should become visible.

“Of course we are not allowed to vote, but we in the northern district of Freising are directly and directly affected by the decision of the Kelheim district council.”

Buses run from Mainburg to the district council meeting

Mayor Hans Sailer made it clear that the Mainburg hospital was the first point of contact for the Auer.

Many Auers were born in Mainburg and therefore have a stronger connection to the hospital there - not least because of the geographical proximity: "It's ten kilometers from Au to Mainburg, 20 kilometers to Freising."

There was no question that the council ultimately voted unanimously for the resolution drafted by the FWG.

The letter should be sent on Wednesday.

Beatrix Sebald also explained that a large audience was expected at the Kelheim district council meeting on Friday.

Three buses will drive from Mainburg to Kelheim.

All participants are welcome.
