Work on the Dorfen sports development concept is ongoing.

After the citizen survey, the steering committee has already met three times.

Dorfen

– Where in Dorfen will ice hockey be played, swum or kicked in the future?

In a new sports center outside the city, for example in Rutzmoos?

Or at the old locations on modernized systems?

This question has been bothering many villagers and local politicians for years.

An answer is to be developed with an Integrated Sports Development Concept (ISPEK), which the city of Dorfen commissioned a year ago.

A steering group with 35 participants has now started work.

In its third meeting, the committee agreed on 15 key objectives and recommendations for action, the city announced in a press release.

One of the 15 goals gives a not very surprising hint: “Swimming can still be practiced in Dorfen.

The aim is to make a new swimming pool usable for schools as well.” The existing outdoor pool is getting old and is therefore in great need of renovation.

There are also noise protection problems at the old location.

The ISPEK developed is ultimately coordinated with the approval authorities and the government of Upper Bavaria, which supports the ISPEK financially with 80 percent.

The public will be informed and a decision on how to proceed will be made at a city council meeting on July 3rd.

The first step was a citizen survey.

5,000 Dorfen residents aged ten and over were randomly selected, contacted and asked to take part in an online survey in March and April 2023.

“With a response rate of 26 percent, the survey was very well received,” writes the town hall in a press release.

Among other things, it was determined whether the person surveyed is physically active, how they assess the general conditions for exercise and sport in Dorfen and what wishes they have with regard to exercise and sport.

In the next step, the ISPEK steering group was created.

Participants are Mayor Heinz Grundner, representatives of the Dorfen sports clubs with more than 100 members and the Dorfen educational institutions, community youth worker Sigrid Wiedenhofer, representatives for the interests of people with disabilities, the speakers for sports and clubs, Christian Holbl and Anton Stimmer, senior advisor Simone Jell- Huber and citizens who applied to work.

The city council is represented by the participation of one delegated parliamentary group member.

The meetings are professionally prepared and accompanied by the commissioned planning offices, the Institute for Cooperative Planning and Sports Development (IKPS) and the City-Spatial Planning Office, as well as representatives of the city administration.

Moderated by Martina Schneider and Dinah Mirbeth (urban-spatial planning) and Dr.

Stefan Eckl (IKPS) discussed intensively.

Based on the survey, the participants developed visions for the development of sporting offerings in Dorfen.

The local framework conditions and the feasibility of these visions were also discussed.

There will be more about this at the public city council meeting on Wednesday, July 3rd.
