"There is an opportunity to win again immediately, in Abruzzo. Here there are only two candidates and there is no split vote: either one wins or the other wins. In my opinion here we win, and not by little, with the League above 10%".

The leader of the League, Matteo Salvini, after the defeat in Sardinia, says he is confident about the outcome of the vote in Abruzzo.

On the opposite side, the centre-left, given the Sardinian results, hopes for a domino effect.

About ten days before the vote, scheduled for Sunday 10 March, the game is open.

There are two candidates: the outgoing governor, Marco Marsilio, for the centre-right and Luciano D'Amico for the centre-left.

Marsilio, a former senator, very loyal to Giorgia Meloni, with the victory of 2019, when he obtained 48% of the votes, was the first regional president of the Brothers of Italy.

Despite his Abruzzo origins, he is criticized by many for being a Roman "away" in Abruzzo by choice of the party.

His direct challenger will be Luciano D'Amico, at the helm of the so-called "Pact for Abruzzo", a broad field that goes from the Democratic Party to Action and up to the 5 Star Movement.

Abruzzo "by origin and choice", as the biography on his website states, he was rector of the University of Teramo and president of Tua, the regional public transport company.

If the centre-right was seen as the favorite from the beginning, the latest polls reveal an uncertain situation.

Marsilio is indeed indicated as a potential winner, but with a range that varies from a few cents to around five points of advantage and with several percentage points of inferiority compared to D'Amico in terms of personal confidence.

And the Sardinian elections confirm that the game is still to be played.

If Salvini says he is confident - "I am absolutely optimistic, the center-right will win, because we have worked" - the center-left hopes for a domino effect.

The victory of Alessandra Todde, who among other things announced that she wanted to go to Abruzzo to campaign, according to the Abruzzo PD represents "the same splendid wind of change that can be felt here, where on March 10th we will write a new story for the our region".

"In two weeks we can also win in Abruzzo with Luciano D'Amico", writes the secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, on social media.

"The trumpet blast has arrived! Now, everyone in Abruzzo!", says PD representative Pier Luigi Bersani.

Giuseppe Conte is also confident: "On Thursday I'm moving to Abruzzo, there is a very clear project with shared objectives".
