The widow of the late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, will speak in the EU Parliament on Wednesday morning.
Strasbourg - The widow of the late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya, will speak to members of the European Union parliament on Wednesday morning (February 28).
A few days after her husband's alleged murder, she announced in a video message that she wanted to continue her husband's political fight.
The content of Navalnaya's speech is likely to be about supporting political prisoners in Russia.
MEPs, the Commission and the Belgian Presidency will then discuss the need for EU action in this regard.
A resolution is scheduled to be voted on Thursday.
The debate in the EU Parliament in Strasbourg can be followed via live stream from 11.30 a.m.

Yulia Navalnaya, who had increasingly withdrawn into her private life since the birth of her son, stated in previous media reports that she had never aspired to a political career.
Nevertheless, she and her husband were members of the social-liberal Yabloko party in Russia for a few years in the early 2000s, and politics and resistance to the autocratic Russian regime under Vladimir Putin always seemed to connect the two.
