Navalny was considered Vladimir Putin's harshest critic

For years, Navalny was Russian President Vladimir Putin's harshest critic.

Navalny particularly denounced corruption and greed and described the state leadership as “crooks and thieves”.

His posts online have been viewed millions of times.

He was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison.

According to Navalny's supporters, there had been negotiations about a prisoner exchange for the Russian murderer Vadim Krasikov, who was convicted in Berlin, before his death.

The federal government has not yet commented on this.

Despite Dubkov's arrest, Navalny's widow wants to continue the Putin critic's work.

The 47-year-old proves this again this Wednesday.

As a guest in the European Parliament, Julia Navalnaya wants to give a speech to the MPs in Strasbourg.

She holds Russian President Vladimir Putin personally responsible for her husband's death.

Shortly after Navalny's death: Ambassadors in Russia commemorate the slain Kremlin critic Nemtsov

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, more than a dozen ambassadors from Western countries in Moscow commemorated Kremlin critic Boris Nemtsov, who was killed nine years ago.

The diplomats and some Moscow residents laid flowers at a makeshift memorial at the site near the Kremlin where Nemtsov was killed.

A piece of paper placed at the memorial read: “Boris Nemtsov was killed at this place by shots in the back.”

It is the ninth anniversary of his death - just a week and a half after the death of Alexei Navalny.
