Towards the energy transition
MSC Cruises is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The company's carbon intensity has already decreased by 33.5% since 2008. Built at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint -Nazaire, the fleet's ships are ready to adopt sustainable alternative fuels: advanced biofuels and biogas today;
green hydrogen, green methanol and synthetic e-fuels in the future.
Most ships are also equipped for shoreside electrical connection during stopovers (engines off = zero emissions).
MSC Cruises also works actively on other aspects such as waste management and treatment or the use and treatment of water, 80% of that used on board being desalinated seawater.
