The Lufthansa subsidiary Discover has a new destination and will be flying from Frankfurt to Tulum in Mexico from December – as the “only airline ever” directly from Europe.
Frankfurt – Better warm and dry than cold and dark – that’s what many German holidaymakers who want to escape the winter think.
This works particularly well with a trip across the Atlantic to sunny Mexico.
During the dry season from December to April it hardly rains there, the temperatures are pleasantly warm and the humidity is not high either.
If you want to go to the land of the Mayas and Aztecs during peak travel time, things will soon be a little easier.
From December 2024, the Lufthansa subsidiary Discover Airlines will fly from Frankfurt to Tulum in Mexico twice a week.
Non-stop, “as the only airline ever,” as Discover writes in an online message.

Discover takes holidaymakers from Frankfurt to Tulum, Mexico, twice a week
With the new route, the holiday airline is expanding its portfolio in the coming winter timetable to include a very special destination.
The Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport was only opened last December, and Discover is now offering the first direct connection from Europe to Tulum.
It starts on December 12, 2024. From then until the end of April 2025, Discover will fly non-stop to Tulum twice a week, always on Thursdays and Sundays.
In around 12 hours of flying time, travelers reached the “dream destination” on the Yucatán Peninsula.
Tulum is known for Mayan ruins and paradisiacal sandy beaches
Around 33,000 people currently live in the coastal city, which is known for its “well-preserved Mayan ruins and paradisiacal sandy beaches with turquoise water.”
A good 130 kilometers south of the holiday stronghold Cancún, Tulum is located at the eastern tip of Mexico in the north of the Caribbean Sea.
Vacationers can stroll on snow-white sandy beaches, visit ancient Mayan ruins or be impressed by picturesque water caves.
The latter, so-called cenotes, are unique in the world and extremely popular with tourists.
The travel destination is also popular.
According to the holiday airline, the new connection was set up due to the “high demand from travelers from Germany and all over Europe”.
Until now, Tulum could only be reached via connecting connections via the USA and Mexico.
Through the “full integration of Discover Airlines into the Lufthansa network,” travelers from all over Europe will be able to travel to Tulum “as easily and conveniently as never before.”
This is the second Discover connection from Frankfurt Airport to Mexico
In addition to the connection to Tulum, Discover in Mexico also flies to Cancún.
There are four connections per week, which also start at Frankfurt Airport.
