A 56-year-old man was placed under judicial supervision this Monday in Colmar (Haut-Rhin) after trying to kidnap a nine-year-old child on Saturday February 24,
Le Figaro
learned from the Colmar public prosecutor's office, confirming reports information from
Actu 17
.
It was thanks to a neighbor who witnessed the scene that the little boy was able to return home.
The suspect who was quickly arrested on the day of the incident was placed in police custody, further specifies Jean Richert, the prosecutor of the Colmar judicial court.
The man, suspected
of “attempting to kidnap and committing intentional violence against a child”
will be tried on April 25.
Saved by a neighbor
The worst was avoided thanks to a neighbor.
On the day of the incident, the child was walking alone in the residence.
It was then that a man appeared.
He would have grabbed the child by the arm, dragging him
“part of the way”
towards the suspect’s building, explains Jean Richert.
The young victim
“then allegedly followed her to the common areas of the building.”
Witnessing the scene
,
this neighbor immediately noticed that the child did not know the man.
So she got offended and ordered the child to go home.
The individual is unfavorably known to the justice system, further indicates the prosecution, which did not provide details on the criminal history of the accused.
