Update Wednesday, February 28th, 4:30 p.m.: 16-year-old seriously injured in light vehicle

The proportions alone do not suggest anything good about this accident constellation: a light vehicle and a truck collided in Miesbach yesterday afternoon.

The driver of the moped car from the French manufacturer Axiam, which is limited to 45 km/h, a 16-year-old from Egling (Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district), sustained serious injuries in the impact and had to be flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter.

As the Miesbach police station reports, the 16-year-old and his 15-year-old passenger wanted to turn left from Am Windfeld street around 1:05 p.m. onto state highway 2073 in the direction of Weyarn.

According to the police, he overlooked the truck of a 29-year-old from the Valley coming from the direction of Weyarn in the “increased volume of traffic in all directions”.

Despite braking hard, he was no longer able to avoid a collision and crashed head-on into the left side of the Aixam - at the height of the driver's seat.

The “windy body” of the light vehicle was completely destroyed by a collision with a truck

The force of the impact threw the 45 km/h car several meters into the oncoming lane.

Since, according to the police, the "windy body" of the light vehicle could not do much to counteract the mass of the truck, the 16-year-old was trapped in the accident and seriously injured.

He was initially unresponsive and firefighters had to cut him free from the wreckage.

After initial treatment, a rescue helicopter took the novice driver to the hospital.

Police were unable to provide any further details about his injuries yesterday.

In any case, the man from Egling suffered various broken bones and a severe traumatic brain injury.

Fortunately, the 15-year-old passenger of the Aixam and the truck driver remained uninjured.

The light vehicle was completely destroyed after the accident, while only the front of the truck suffered minor damage.

The following forces were alerted by a siren and deployed in large numbers: rescue service, emergency doctor, rescue helicopter with crew, BRK operations management and the Miesbach volunteer fire department in large numbers.

The state road was completely closed for around two hours to allow the accident to be recorded and rescued.
