After the attack on two children in Duisburg, the victims are being treated in hospital.
According to doctors, one of the children's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
There is still no precise information about the health of the second child.
Duisburg - The two children were attacked near a school in the Marxloh district of Duisburg on Wednesday.
Nothing is yet known about the background to the crime, said the spokeswoman.
It is also unclear whether there was a relationship between the alleged 21-year-old perpetrator and the children or whether they became victims by chance.
