The way is clear for the construction of two new tennis courts between Narbonner Ring and Dietlhofer See: the necessary changes to the development plan will soon come into force.
But before that there was another dispute in the building committee about the compensation areas.
Weilheim
– The TC Weilheim can get started: It is allowed to expand its tennis facility near the Narbonner Ring – which currently includes nine clay courts and an indoor hall – with two additional tennis courts.
These are necessary because of the strong increase in membership. As it is said, they will be built between the existing sand courts and the Birkenallee to the west.
The area there is a biotope (we reported).
However, a replacement can be created for this in the immediate vicinity after consultation with the specialist authorities.
Two urban green spaces directly on Narbonner Ring are to be upgraded accordingly.
The character of the popular birch avenue should not be disturbed
In order to build the new tennis courts, the development plan for the “Leisure and Sports Park at Narbonner Ring” had to be changed.
According to the city building department, there were no objections from the public.
The statements from the authorities' participation were discussed at the most recent building committee meeting.
For example, the district office's “Professional Nature Conservation” department had requested that the new tennis courts on the west side only be covered in greenery so as not to disturb the character of the popular birch alley, which leads from the skater area to the Kranlöchl.
The draft will be adjusted accordingly.
Landscape planner sees no need for change
According to the city administration, there is no need for changes from the state building authority's indication that the new tennis courts are located in the possible route of a Weilheim east bypass.
If this were to happen, “a minor route shift” would be possible, says the city planning department.
A discussion arose in the committee about the objection of the Weilheim Agenda 21 (Nature Working Group) that the proposed biotope replacement areas were “not suitable for the necessary qualitative compensation”.
The city asked the landscape planner for an opinion on this - and he considered the planned compensatory measures, which had been agreed with the nature conservation authority, to be sufficient.
The city building authority therefore sees “no need for change” here either.
City supports the tennis club
Green representative Luise Nowak, however, referred to the audit committee's recent demand that the city must deal with compensation areas more transparently (we reported).
Only when a “valid statute” has been drawn up can the statute resolution regarding “tennis courts” be made, said Nowak – so that the city can invoice the costs for the compensation areas.
“That's no use,” countered Manfred Stork on behalf of the city's building administration, because the city is providing the tennis club with the compensation areas free of charge - in the spirit of supporting the club and its youth work.

Horst Martin (SPD), chairman of the audit committee, also found it wrong to put the whole thing on hold “until a new regulation may be in place”.
“The compensation areas are available,” emphasized Rupert Pentenrieder (BfW), “we should not arbitrarily delay the project now.”
And in the opinion of Klaus Gast (CSU), the planning and approach correspond to “what we wanted”.
The building committee approved the city administration's consideration proposals and approved the change to the development plan with "small editorial adjustments" as statutes.
Only Luise Nowak voted against it.
