Duels at the stove: The new season of Kitchen Impossible has started.

This time the culinary challenge is firmly in Bavarian hands: Hans Jörg Bachmeier, Anton Schmaus, Alexander Herrmann and Thomas Bätz are competing against Tim Mälzer from Hamburg.

Anyone who is challenged by TV chef Tim Mälzer on “Kitchen Impossible” can cook.

Clearly.

Many of the TV chef's competitors even have Michelin awards.

“And yet you still let your pants down and reach your limits,” says Munich restaurateur Hans Jörg Bachmeier.

He experienced it first hand.

His episode can be seen on March 3rd (8:15 p.m. on Vox).

Then the Munich chef has to show what he can do on the stove.

This much can already be said in advance: “It was pure stress.”

In the ninth season of “Kitchen Impossible,” Tim Mälzer and his opponents travel around the world in eight brand-new episodes to recreate local specialties under the harshest conditions.

This time they have to prove themselves in Wales, Portugal, Kenya or Italy and face the famous black box that reveals their task.

Tim Mälzer put in Lederhosn

Speaking of trousers – they play a special role in Munich.

Bachmeier gives his opponent Tim a nice pair of Lederhosen right at the start on the Isar.

“Without them, nothing works in this country.” Who looks better?

“Definitely me,” says Bachmeier confidently.

But then adds with a broad grin: “To be honest, the Lederhosn also stood up to Tim.” Bachmeier does not reveal whether the winnings also go to the Munich native when it comes to cooking.

Premiere Kitchen Impossible at Tantris

Bachmeier came up with something special for his opponent Tim, with whom he has been a personal friend for over ten years, and sent him to the “temple of German gastronomy, Tantris”.

An absolutely mammoth task awaits the maltster in the black box: Rumohr sweetbreads with Albufera sauce.

Developed by chef Eckart Witzigmann.

In Tantris, the old place of work of Hans Jörg Bachmeier, and in front of the eyes of the French chef Virginie Protat, Mälzer has to prove whether he can recreate this classic.

Hans Jörg Bachmeier himself is sent to Sicily in Kitchen Impossible to prepare nothing less than the country's street food: arancine, filled rice balls.

The chef initially appears confident of victory: “I have had these golden-yellow fried balls on the menu at Genussfreuden myself.” So far, so good.

Hans Jörg Bachmeier works up a sweat during the challenge – that much can be revealed.

Anton Schmaus: “most exciting experience of my life”

Star chef Anton Schmaus is also used to challenges - and not just because he cooks for the German national football team.

In his fine-dining restaurant Storsfad in Regensburg he celebrates his cuisine at star level.

Schmaus describes his appearance on “Kitchen Impossible” as “one of the most exciting experiences of my life.”

Cooking in Nairobi “humbled him and brought him back down to earth”.

He describes his cooking as a “classic heroic story.

You set yourself a task, fail and somehow win in the end.

On many other levels.” The show with Anton Schmaus runs on March 17th.

Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz are almost at the bottom, at least in terms of broadcast slots.

They are going to Antwerp and Bourges in France on April 14th.

Tobias Bätz, who was born in Franconia, has been working with Alexander Herrmann since 2008.

In 2019 they achieved two Michelin stars.

Is that enough against Tim Mälzer and his famous black box?
