The civilization of the Daunians and the Steles become protagonists of an unpublished story that develops through multiple, accessible and inclusive languages.

The project "The Daunian steles in sign language" was presented at the national archaeological museum and castle of Manfredonia in Foggiano, which benefits from funding from the national operational program (Pon) culture and development Fesr 2014-2020. Seven videos with Italian subtitles and contents were created descriptive, aimed at deaf people who sign, but also at blind and visually impaired visitors, accessible via qrcode, positioned next to the steles along the visit route.

The project is dedicated "to the dissemination of knowledge and the use of cultural heritage, both material and immaterial, through the creation of innovative services and systems and the use of advanced technologies".

A hearing child of deaf parents and a deaf girl participated in the description of the videos, selected by the ENS (national body for the deaf) "Each film - explains Gianluigi Attorre, president of Atomic production, who edited the videos - tells a theme selected from the many scenes depicted on the Daunian stele, involving the visitor in an innovative narrative dimension thanks to the alternation of video footage and animated illustrations in a contemporary key.

All the details - he adds - are described in such a way as to facilitate the creation of a mental image and to encourage full enjoyment even for those who do not see: the videos will be completed as part of the subsequent Pnrr project through tactile paths".

The Museum "with this project updates its communication models by placing the visitor at the center with the aim of making its cultural heritage increasingly accessible", comments the director of the museum Annalisa Treglia.
