In August 2020, in the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic,
Jean-Marc Généreux
took everyone by surprise by choosing to leave
“Dancing with the Stars”
to join France 2. While certain filming was stopped and others resumed under special conditions, the channel had taken the gamble of launching “Spectacular”.
But after only two numbers, the new entertainment, a worthy successor to the “Largest Cabaret in the World”, had met a premature end due to lack of satisfactory audiences.

In 2021, the Quebec dancer and choreographer played the role of Gary Boo in “Fort Boyard”.
A colorful character inspired by his origins.
"Nobody loves her.
He is gruff, borderline a little mean, not welcoming, not strong-willed, who doesn't like people and likes to see them suffer.
That’s so not me!”
, he detailed.
And despite his enthusiasm, Jean-Marc Généreux was not renewed for the following season of the game.
During this period, the Quebecer did not miss watching the TF1 dance competition.
“Emotionally it was hard
,” he told us.
On the one hand, I was doing “Spectacular”, on the other I was following season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” on TV.”
In September 2022, he had the opportunity to make his comeback.
Indeed, Jean-Marc Généreux had been called in as reinforcements for an evening to compensate for the absence of Chris Marques suffering from Covid.
So it's no surprise to find him behind the desk this year alongside Fauve Hautot and Mel Charlot.
“Becoming a part of a program was an opportunity that very rarely presents itself in one’s life”
Jean-Marc Généreux
However, it is good to wonder if his return has something to do with his failures on France 2 and if he has regrets about having left “Dancing with the Stars”.
“I enjoyed it, I really had a lot of fun, I loved the France Télévisions teams.
Playing a program was an opportunity that very rarely presents itself in his life.
This opportunity would not have presented itself if I had been on “DALS”.
It added strings to my bow.
Do I have any regrets?
Zero.
Do I feel lucky about the present?
Absolutely
,” he tells us.

And added:
“When I left “Dancing with the Stars”, there was no more because it was 2020 and we were in the heart of the pandemic.
In a very harmonious way, the BBC told me:
“Listen Jean-Marc, if you have opportunities, seize them because we don't know if we'll be able to come back with 'Dancing with the Stars'”
.
We didn't know how Covid was going to impact a show where we put two different people in the same bubble.
So the opportunity presented itself and to seize it, I had to cut ties with the “DALS” family.
It wasn't a difficult decision because there was no more “Dancing with the Stars” at that point
.
Today, it is therefore with
“a heart full of happiness”
that Jean-Marc Généreux has regained his place on the jury.
“I really wanted to share my love of dance with people who will put themselves in danger, who will try to surpass themselves.
Without pretension, I hope that I will give them enough encouragement, keys and constructive criticism so that they live the experience to the fullest
,” he concludes.
