In a public beach group on Facebook, users share their most valuable and rare finds.
A man from Upper Palatinate recently reported there.
Willows - Waters are always a promising opportunity for treasure hunters. From riches washed up on the sea to beautiful stones and shells, everything can be there.
The Facebook group “Beach Finds – Sea Glass, Fossils, Stones and the Sea” is dedicated to the greatest finds on German waters.
At the beginning of February, an Upper Palatinate man posted his find here - and received much applause.
Oberpfälzer makes a great find in the north-east of Bavaria – and is met with enthusiasm
On the morning of February 2nd, user Sebastian Weiss uploaded three photos to Facebook and posted them in the “Beach Finds” group.
“Good morning from northern Upper Palatinate.
I recently found a really large shell in a lake outlet here with us that had a great little surprise in it... See for yourself..." he wrote.
And as announced, the photos show a large shell and a beautiful, small pearl.
Almost 600 users “liked” the post (as of Monday evening, February 5th), and many also commented on the post.

Much praise for the find - but also an accusation of animal cruelty
Many users congratulate the Upper Palatinate resident on his beautiful find.
“Is it real?
Great,” writes one user, for example, while another comments: “Great, I would have a pendant made out of it.”
However, two users are also concerned about the animal welfare of the shell and suspect that the finder killed it to get the pearl.
However, he vehemently denies this: “No, it was dead and open and there was not a piece of meat in the shell, as you can see in the picture!!!!
First think, then complain.... But it's nice to say bad things about everything."
Another user then explains the background to the whole thing: “If a grain of sand or something similar gets into the shell, it envelops it, encapsulates it.
The older the shell gets, the larger the pearl becomes.
This happens all by itself in salt and freshwater mussels.
If the mussel dies a natural death, then you will find pearls like this.
This is quite rare in our region and is very fortunate.
Please don’t lump it in with pearl farming.” So the man from Upper Palatinate can continue to rejoice in his great luck – which is certainly a good sign for the year 2024.
