The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, as the war between Israel and Hamas continues there.
This Tuesday, the UN warned of the risk of an “almost inevitable widespread famine” within the Palestinian territory.
“If nothing changes, a famine is imminent in northern Gaza,” Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the World Food Program (WFP), even told the UN Security Council.
According to the UN, no humanitarian convoy has been able to reach northern Gaza for more than a month.
Faced with this situation, France - which is calling for a "massive delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza" - carried out two drops of humanitarian cargo, in two joint operations with Jordan on Monday and Tuesday.
“The aid provided by French aircraft consisted of 2.2 tonnes of food packages and hygiene kits dropped in specific containers equipped with parachutes,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed on Monday about the first drop.
This was done “at the suggestion” of Jordan, the French Ministry of the Armed Forces explains to Le Parisien.
Such an operation had already enabled France and Jordan to drop seven tonnes of humanitarian aid into Gaza at the beginning of January.
