During checks on commercial freight transport carried out on Tuesday morning (February 27, 2024), the dangerous goods squad of the Memmingen Motorway Police (APS) found a large number of violations on the A 96 near Holzgünz.

Holzgünz / A96 - Particularly striking: the officials registered intentionally manipulated exhaust systems on three trucks.

The officials shut down a Polish 40-ton articulated truck and also prohibited a Polish and a Lithuanian van from continuing its journey.

In all three cases, the exhaust aftertreatment was not functional due to defects.

Vehicle electronics manipulated: The environment is more than twenty times polluted with harmful exhaust gases

In order to avoid the power reduction and blocking of an engine start that are technically required in these cases, the vehicle electronics were manipulated accordingly.

In this way, the companies were able to save themselves on repairs and still continue to operate the vehicles.

The environment was polluted with harmful exhaust gases more than twenty times over.

The inspectors therefore initiated proceedings against all three companies for violations of the Federal Immission Control Act and withheld four-digit security deposits in each case.

They only allow the vehicles to continue driving after the repairs have been carried out.

In the case of the small van from Poland, they also discovered that there was illegal cabotage, a transport within federal territory.

To do this, the company also had to provide a low four-digit amount of security.
