Announced Thursday evening in Lyon at 8 p.m., a show by the controversial comedian Dieudonné has just been banned by the city of Lyon this Wednesday.
“Mr.
Dieudonné M'Bala M'Bala having been the subject of numerous criminal convictions for having made negationist speeches, inciting racial hatred or advocating terrorism, the mayor of Lyon decided to ban the performance of the said show on its territory”
, indicated the municipality in a joint press release with the Rhône prefecture.
For its part, the latter indicates that
it “fully supports the decision of the mayor of Lyon and also issues a prefectural ban on the entire department if the location of the performance were to change.”
Several convictions
Two performances scheduled for August 19 and October 20, 2023 were also banned.
Finally, the comedian performed in a field in the Lyon metropolis this summer and in Isère in the fall.
Dieudonné was convicted several times for racial insult, incitement to hatred and advocating terrorism, then for tax fraud and misuse of corporate assets in 2021 by the court of appeal.
