The first mayor of the municipality of Markt Schwaben, Michael Stolze, wants to resign from his office early.

Markt Schwaben - The first mayor of the municipality of Markt Schwaben, Mr. Michael Stolze, has submitted an application to be released from office on May 31, 2024 and informed the local councils and the town hall administration of his decision.
Mayor Stolze has been in office for almost 4 years; he was elected mayor with 67 percent of the vote in a runoff election in March 2020.

Stolze announces the following about his resignation and the reasons: “I have considered this step very carefully and examined my situation several times from all conceivable perspectives.
Finally, I come to the conclusion that I am no longer qualified to carry out this responsible office.
My job description contains a very clear mandate, namely to use all my strength for the benefit of the market community.
In the last few weeks I have increasingly realized that I am no longer doing justice to my role. I don't want to miss the opportunity to briefly reflect on the many positive aspects of the almost four years of my term in office.
Together with the market town council and the town hall administration, we were able to change, initiate and achieve many things.
Overall, the Swabian market is in an excellent position to look towards a positive future.
I would like to thank you for the good cooperation and wish the entire market town council and my successor much success in implementing the started and upcoming projects.”
