Le Figaro Marseille
It was a strange case of damage which occurred in Marseille during the night of last Monday to Tuesday.
That evening, around thirty cars parked in a parking lot in the Marseille city saw their windows broken by a visibly determined individual, as reported by
La Provence
and confirmed to Le
Figaro
by a source close to the matter.
According to this source, the police were sent to the scene around midnight after a call from a witness to the damage, who argued that a thug was attacking vehicles parked in a parking lot located not far from the Saint-Charles train station, in the 1st arrondissement.
The suspect, who seemed unstoppable, was probably interested in the interior of the targeted vehicles to steal their owners' personal items.
Blood-stained fire extinguisher found in parking lot
The thug finally fled when he heard the police arriving, leaving behind a blood-stained fire extinguisher and his loot.
The latter, made up of several bags containing stolen items, was found scattered all over the parking lot.
An investigation was opened to identify the suspect, who was still actively sought this Wednesday morning according to a police source.
This case is reminiscent of another very similar one, this time occurring in Gironde in January.
A 20-year-old young man was arrested in Pessac by the national police thanks to video surveillance, suspected of having broken dozens of car windows in the same town.
In police custody, the accused admitted to no less than 99 acts of vandalism.
