After the major power outage on Friday, people in and around Weilheim were left in the dark on Tuesday.

It is still unclear whether there is a connection between the incidents.

Weilheim

- The next power outage has hit the Weilheim-Schongau district.

On Tuesday evening, the lights - and all devices - went out in households in Weilheim, Wielenbach and Unterhausen.

Bayernwerk AG confirmed the incident on Wednesday morning.

Short circuit in the eastern part of Weilheim

As press spokesman Michael Bartels told the local newspaper when asked, there was a short circuit on a medium-voltage cable at the Bayernwerk in the eastern part of Weilheim.

As those affected report on social networks, for some the light only flickered briefly, for others it stopped working at all.

According to Bartels, up to 4,000 households were affected at the peak.

Restrictions were in place from 8:56 p.m. to 10:48 p.m.

The connection between the power outages is being examined

The renewed problems raise the question of whether Tuesday's power outage was related to last week's.

Nothing worked for several hours, but ultimately four problem areas were found where repair work is currently underway.

“We cannot say with absolute certainty whether it is directly related to the outages and repair work last Friday,” says Bartels.

“Today we will send a cable measuring vehicle to the affected cable section and locate the exact location of the fault.” If it is the same source of the fault, “we will try to install a new cable harness.”
