A new indoor swimming pool is to be built at Tegernsee.

Is a functional, no-frills swimming pool sufficient?

There is also a pro and a con comment from Gabi Werner and Katrin Hager.

Gabi Werner:

It was to be expected that the desire for a leisure-oriented indoor swimming pool would arise.

The memories of the popular bathing park, which boasted a cozy sauna area and attractions such as an outdoor pool and slide, are still too fresh.

Who wants to take a step back and settle for less?

Nevertheless, the community swimming working group did well to develop and present a minimalist solution.

He simply faced the realities.

The municipalities will have to fork out 21 million for the construction alone, after which they will have to jointly cover the annual operating deficit.

If you want to have financially weaker communities like Kreuth on board, that is (unfortunately) the highest feeling at the moment.

I think that citizens can trust the assessment of the working group and the pool experts.

After all, they racked their brains over a possible concept for a year.

Conclusion: If the future shareholders don't want to go swimming, they should rather ride a small wave.

It remains to be seen whether the individual local councilors will see it that way or whether the demand for a fun pool will become louder - also in view of the pressure from many disappointed citizens.

Katrin Hager:

If you want to find out more about the normal distribution in a swimming pool without any frills, I recommend a visit to the Holzkirchner Batusa.

There you can watch what happens in a 25-meter sports pool with five lanes, when not only water rescuers and swimming courses come.

But speed and pleasure lap swimmers, families with children, teenagers with balls, floating courses and water aerobics.

The rush is big.

The compromise too.

You can hardly expect anything different at Tegernsee.

The teaching pool is an important second component.

But anyone who believes that leisure enthusiasts don't come to this tourist region could be in for a real surprise.

Especially since an indoor swimming pool is a welcome alternative to bad weather.

It doesn't have to be a fun pool or a second lake sauna.

But if you're going to spend money, then please find a solution that doesn't leave you mourning missed opportunities for decades to come.

It is clear to me that municipalities do not have more money through wishful thinking.

But if the public sector always retreats to compulsory tasks and a minimum, our society becomes impoverished.

In any case, there are many fluid boundaries between the fun pool and the economy version.
