Landsberg - Your own book: Anyone who likes to play with words always dreams of seeing their own name as the author on the cover of a book.

For Landsberg journalist Silke Katinka Feltes, the dream has become reality: together with her friend Anja Schriever, she wrote the pleasure hiking travel guide “Hiking for the Soul in the Salzkammergut” for Droste Verlag.

And put on my hiking boots myself.

Silke Feltes is often on the go.

I'm happy to go by bike, but if she wants to go a little further away, she'll spontaneously get into her VW bus and drive off.

For example, in the Salzkammergut with its “wild, romantic cultural landscape,” as she says.

“In the wake of the Habsburg nobility, who enjoyed their summer vacation here, the area developed into an international hotspot for painters, writers, musicians and composers.” Summer vacation doesn’t just mean deck chairs and a good book - but also hiking.

Feltes enthuses that the “emerald-green lakes and impressive mountain worlds, the lush alpine pastures and enchanted raised moors as well as the roaring streams and magical forests” are particularly attractive in the Salzkammergut.

“I have been to many regions of the world, but for me the Salzkammergut is one of the most magical places there is.

Take a deep breath, relax and enjoy - everything is included.” The fact that the little paradise is also the European Capital of Culture this year is the icing on the cake, so to speak.

Together with a friend and fellow Salzkammergut enthusiast, Feltes set out to 'walk' the 20 tours presented in the book.

My daughter and/or husband were also allowed to come along.

Sometimes the woman from Landsberg went up to the heights all alone.

These include short excursions, but also quite demanding hikes with differences in altitude to be overcome.

But Feltes not only examined the paths, but also what was found along the way - which is why the book contains recommendations not only for special spiritual places, but also for special restaurants.

There is also information about cultural history.

“Wolfgangsee, Dachstein, Bad Ischl – the combination of nature, history and culture makes each of the 20 tours a time out for all the senses,” promises the author duo.

The pleasure hiking travel guide covers three federal states and 76 lakes, from panoramic views to forest bathing to meditative deceleration tours.

And that too in the footsteps of Sissi and Emperor Franz.
