While there are only a few days left for candidates to submit their wishes on Parcoursup for the year 2024-2025, we looked at SupTracker, a tool that allows high school students to find out about the candidates received in previous years in the training they are aiming for.

“We have to see it as a search engine which allows access to additional information whose data comes from Parcoursup,” explains Nagui Bechichi, doctoral student at the Paris School of Economics and co-founder of SupTracker with Antoine Prévotat, student at the ENS in the economics department and in a master's degree in mathematics at the University of Aix-Marseille: "Information such as the profile of those admitted or academic results was available in open data, the data was rich, but not everyone is I didn't understand it.

Dive into the statistics of each formation
If you already have specific training courses in mind, the tool allows you to summarize training statistics at a glance: rate of scholarship holders, profile of candidates admitted with baccalaureate marks, gender, academy, type of baccalaureate, but also the synthesis.
Another block of the training page also allows you to see whether the training is very selective or not.
It indicates the rate of access to training, but also the duration of the selection process.

Nagui Bechichi explains: “We will find indicators which provide information on the profile of candidates admitted in previous years, this allows us to provide more information.
For example, we have an idea of the academic results of those admitted the previous year, and we know how the profile of those admitted has evolved over time.
There is a selectivity indicator, to know what the chances of candidates are of being admitted to this or that training.

Each training being one training among others in the same sector, SupTracker also offers to position it in relation to others, in your region or throughout France.
All session by session since 2018. You can also select several training courses and compare them.
Number of candidates, number of admissions, quotas, but also the profile of the candidates (rate of scholarship holders, new baccalaureate, mention, etc.)
For the latter, choose your specialties
For second-year high school students, the choice of specialties should be made based on a sector targeted after the baccalaureate.
Problem is, it's not always easy to know which sector takes which doubles as a priority.
“With the reform of the general baccalaureate, there were a lot of questions in the choice of specialties consistent with the higher education sectors.
But the training courses do not write in black and white “this pair of training courses is needed””, explains Nagui Bechichi: “With open data, we know clearly, clearly and precisely that if we are interested in a sector, we can have the distribution of the pairs of candidates and those who were admitted.
Conversely, by entering your specialty couple, we see who applied with this couple and where they did so, where they were admitted.
