Guillaume Canet confided in the columns of Ouest-France this Wednesday that he had been asked by France Télévisions to be a consultant on the horse riding events during the Paris Olympics.
“As my friend Jean Rochefort (who died in October 2017) did in an incredible way,”
Canet
declared to the daily, he who had been asked to pair up with the actor to comment on the World Equestrian Games held in Normandy in 2014.
Canet is attracted by the proposal, but cannot guarantee at this stage whether he will be free at the time of competitions next summer.
“I was asked if I wanted to come and comment on the equestrian events, and even launch them.
I have been contacted several times and I have to respond, he confides.
If I can, yes, with pleasure because it will be an incredible moment.
(...) I don't know if I will be around at that time, in relation to my professional commitments.

At the Paris Olympics, equestrian sports (show jumping, dressage and eventing) will take place in the prestigious setting of the Château de Versailles, temporarily converted for the occasion, from July 27 to August 6.
Canet, a good rider during his youth, had to give up his career following a serious fall at the age of 18.
In recent years, he has resumed riding competitions during his periods of freedom.
In 2023, he took part in the Jumping International in Dinard, La Baule and Paris.
In the film
Jappeloup
, directed by Christian Duguay, he played Pierre Durand, Olympic champion in 1988 in Seoul.
“I caught the virus when I was little,” he told Le Parsien in 2017. “At first, I wasn’t at all into it.
It was my sisters who were coming up.
I went there when I was 9 or 10 years old and it was a bit annoying.
At one point, the instructor did an obstacle session.
And then I said to myself: “I like that.”
I liked the idea of jumping an obstacle, but I still had to know how to ride a horse!
I entered my first competition a few months later and won it.
