In recent days, athletes have had an open table at the Elysée.
After Kylian Mbappé, invited to dinner on Tuesday, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron invited several high-level French athletes, this Wednesday to the Élysée Palace, for “an informal and friendly dinner”, as specified by the Elysée in a press release this Wednesday.
“The Head of State thus wishes to demonstrate his support and that of the entire country for our united French team, to be able to understand their state of mind and their daily life less than five months before the opening of the Paris Games 2024, but also to be able to debate with them public sports policies, the place of sport in our country,” said the press release.
The invited athletes, including boxer Estelle Mossely, thrower Mélina Robert-Michon and fencer Romain Cannone, were chosen based on their current availability.
“The invited athletes, whose preparation and competition schedule allowed their presence, represent the diversity of the Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, but also the socio-professional backgrounds of our athletes, who all aim to carry high the colors of the French team united during these Games,” concludes the Elysée press release.
