The
Single Union of Income and Horizontal Building Workers (SUTERH)
agreed jointly to increase salaries for February by
45% over the salary for the first month of the year
.
In addition, the union warned that it will meet with businessmen in the next few hours for a new recomposition.
"The country is going through an unprecedented crisis, this difficult moment demands a lot of responsibility and support for all workers. Today we closed the joint negotiations with a 45% increase on the basic January salary of our members," said Víctor Santa María , the general secretary of SUTERH.
"The growing inflation accumulated throughout 2023 and the unforeseen measures in the sector of the economy adopted since last December impact the increase in the cost of living, the increase in prices and the loss of purchasing power of salaries "said the union member and businessman in a statement.
"This scenario challenges the parties in the interest of effective compliance with the constitutional demand for decent working conditions, sufficiency of the base salary for the subsistence of workers, and indicates the need to maintain the purchasing power of remuneration," he added. .
The 45% increase is calculated
on the basic salary corresponding to the month of January 2024 "for the fourth category"
and will be applied "to the additional agreement and proportionally to the remaining categories" in the remuneration for the month of February 2024. 2024.
"The parties agree to meet at the end of February in order to establish a recomposition and/or salary increase," the statement concludes.
