In Seine-Port, the smartphone, a mobile phone with a screen, will now be banned in public spaces.
The city of Seine-et-Marne adopted by referendum, Saturday February 3, a municipal charter
“for the proper use of screens”,

.
The mayor, Vincent Paul-Petit (LR) will issue an order to prohibit the use of smartphones in businesses, in front of schools, while walking in the street and when several residents meet in a public or associative space.
Less than 20% of those registered voted with 146
“yes”
and 126
“no”
.
“I expected a bigger gap. It's so intrusive. People feel like we're meddling in their lives. I do not want that ! But there is a public health problem. We must help them
,” stressed the councilor to Le
Parisien
.
The same charter also encourages parents to protect children from screens by banning them from the bedroom and meals.
The town hall, however, will create a film club and a sports area for children and adolescents.
In addition, she will buy a simple phone, not a smartphone, for the college students.
The ban on smartphones in the street is above all symbolic, no fines or real sanctions can be applied.
Municipal authorities established this charter in consultation with health professionals and hope that it will protect children from screens and encourage them to interact in daily life.
