The shortage of personnel in the public service is also presenting the police with ever greater challenges.

Growing tasks, fewer and fewer civil servants: the tension is constantly growing.

Bad Wiessee - In the Tegernsee Valley there are already initial fears that the inspection in Bad Wiessee may not be closed, but at least could be operated with less presence at night.

There is a clear rejection of this from the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters.

“Neither a closure of the Bad Wiessee police station at night nor a reduction in patrol service in the Tegernsee Valley are part of our consideration,” was the answer to a corresponding query from our newspaper.

But it is being considered - and it is like this: According to the press office, there are considerations on the part of the Presidium and the Bad Wiessee police station towards “making the field service more flexible”.

The aim is to further strengthen the care of the population “with flexible deployment management”.

Redistribute tasks

This means: If the number of staff is no longer sufficient, the tasks must be reweighted, distributed and optimized.

“By reducing administrative activities in the internal service and the associated synergy effects/resource gains, the visible police presence in the field can be increased on site as required - especially at busy times,” the Presidium continues.

This would allow scope for further police focus.

The principle of sending officers from the office to the street and thus maintaining patrol presence at the expense of the office staff can apparently lead to inspections no longer being constantly staffed - especially at night.

At the same time, it goes on to say, technical installations at departments “continue to ensure immediate accessibility” of the police at all times via the operations center of the Upper Bavaria South Police Headquarters.

“Even if the office is temporarily unoccupied, the police presence in the form of patrol service remains literally 'on the street'.” The patrols should continue to be fully available for police operations in the Tegernsee Valley in the future.

Permanent examination of the structures

In general, the presidium “as a modern and future-oriented police authority” constantly examines and analyzes its organizational structure.

The aim of the reviews is, in particular, to increase efficiency and “stress-oriented, flexible deployment of personnel while maintaining a high level of safety”.

Appropriate measures should be used to continually improve the objective security situation and citizens' sense of security.

Ex-inspection manager finds critical words

Johann Brandhuber, retired former head of the Holzkirchen inspection and member of the police union, is very critical of these “considerations”, especially with a view to Bad Wiessee.

He sees such steps as an introduction to the exit from the area.

“I don’t see many opportunities for optimization to free up colleagues.” Currently, you can also make advertisements at night – “the presidium in Rosenheim can’t do that.”

His approach: “The area must remain strong.” This requires more staff.
