Northern Italy is hit by a storm.
There are numerous landslides and floods.
In other regions, however, there is a risk of avalanches.
Vicenza – Winter isn’t quite over yet.
While it is getting colder again in Germany and there is even a threat of snow in some places, there is a real storm chaos raging in Italy.
The northern regions of Liguria and Veneto are particularly affected.
Civil protection declared a red alert.

The north of Italy is struggling with persistent rainfall.
There have been numerous landslides in Liguria, the Italian news agency

The municipality of Pieve Ligure was almost divided in half by a landslide.
Hundreds of residents are cut off from the outside world.
Some have already been evacuated.
A landslide in Davagna caused a gas pipeline to break.
The 456 del Turchino road near Gnocchetto remains closed due to a rock fall.
Floods in northern Italy: “The storm situation remains critical”
In contrast, there is a risk of flooding in Veneto.
Although the peak of rainfall was reached on Tuesday (February 27th), there is still no prospect of better weather on Wednesday (February 28th).

In Vicenza, water levels are rising and with them the risk of flooding.
For safety reasons, all schools here remain closed.
The storm in Italy is also restricting rail traffic.

In addition, travelers must expect significant delays.
Numerous pictures and videos on social media show the extent of the storm.
In many places you can see overflowing rivers and streams.
“The storm situation in Veneto remains critical,” wrote Zaia on the short message service X (formerly Twitter).
The storm even devastated the Adriatic coast.

Landslide in Italy hits car – danger of avalanches in Trentino
Tuscany was not spared either.
Here the authorities temporarily reported an orange alert.
There were floods in Livorno, among other places.
Levels are alarmingly high across the region.
A car was hit by a landslide in the municipality of Massarosa.
As Ansa reported, both passengers were trapped but remained uninjured.
A similar situation is also emerging in the Emilia-Romagna region.
The persistent rains also led to flooding in the early hours of the morning.
In Trentino, however, snow fell.
Up to 70 centimeters of fresh snow caused traffic chaos, especially in Valsugana.
There is a risk of avalanches - a community was therefore evacuated on Monday.
For security reasons, the Fedaia Pass and Rolle Pass were closed.
