Roy Black's only son Torsten has lived in Colombia for a long time.
Now he reveals how he was drawn to his new adopted home.

Hits like “It’s nice to be in the world” or “All in White” are legendary.
But Gerhard Höllerich, as the musician's real name was, died far too early.

Roy Black died at the age of 48.
His brother found him lifeless in his beloved fishing hut.
For Torsten, as a 15-year-old, the news was a shock, as he
revealed in an interview with

His mother picked him up from school and then told him.
He looks back fondly on his time with his father, even though it wasn't exactly easy as the son of one of the most important musicians in the industry.
He remembers what it was like when people found out his father was famous.

Today Torsten Höllerich lives in modest circumstances in Colombia.
The fact that South America became his new home almost 20 years ago was apparently not planned.
The 47-year-old said he did it because of his wife at the time.
“She is Colombian and she wanted to return to her homeland.
At the time, I had sold my restaurant in Ibiza after eight years and my uncle Wieland, with whom I had run it, emigrated to Brazil.
I took advantage of that and went with her.
I knew the Ibiza adventure was over.”
After the death of his mother and father Roy Black, Torsten Höllerich emigrated to Colombia and still lives there today.

He has a three-year-old son with Maria Fernanda.
But the marriage broke up because of the drama surrounding the second child.
In August 2023, Fernanda suffered a miscarriage when she was four months pregnant.
Love could not withstand the pain and sadness.
Torsten Höllerich washed down his grief with alcohol, as he revealed to the magazine

His wife then asked for a divorce.
He is now in love again.
Höllerich has been with his son's kindergarten teacher since October.

Roy Black's son wants to keep his father's artistic legacy alive
He wants to leave the strokes of fate behind him - eleven years after his father, Torsten's mother Silke died - and maintain Roy Black's work.
“My father left a great artistic legacy.
Honoring that is what I’m all about now.”
He started an Instagram page with “many photos of my family”, “anecdotes from my father” and excerpts of his hits that he sang himself.
“I by no means want to follow in his footsteps, but rather honor and keep alive how and who he was,” explains Torsten Höllerich.
With the help of AI, Roy Black is set to make a stage comeback more than 30 years after his death.
