Many assumptions are circulating about the death of Alexei Navalny - now the head of Ukrainian defense intelligence has revealed his information.

Kiev – On February 16, Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny died in a Siberian prison camp.

Now Ukraine's defense intelligence chief, Kyrylo Budanov, has spoken out - he also addressed the cause of Navalny's death.

There has been a lot of speculation about this in the past few days, and quite a few people suspected that the death was due to external influence.

As the

Kyiv Post

reports, Budanov contradicts this assumption.

According to his information, Navalny died of natural causes - from a blood clot.

“I may disappoint you,” Budanov said on the sidelines of an event on Sunday (February 24), “but as far as we know, he actually died as a result of a blood clot.”

This has now been more or less verified.

“The source for this was not the Internet,” added the head of the HUR secret service.

Navalny's death: Kremlin spokesman rejects allegations against Vladimir Putin

Budanov's statements also correspond to reports from the Russian media.

It was said there that Navalny suddenly collapsed after a walk.

Medical staff subsequently failed to revive him.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet commented personally on the death of his harshest critic.

However, a Kremlin spokesman rejected assumptions made by Navalny's wife Julija and some Western politicians such as Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), who blamed Putin or the Russian regime for Navalny's death, describing the claims as "vulgar" and "filthy".

Russian journalist believes Alexei Navalny was murdered

Meanwhile, Russian journalist and activist Olga Romanova, who now lives in Berlin, was

convinced that Navalny had been murdered in an interview with

Stern published on Monday (February 26).

She believes Navalny “was killed with a stun gun.”

According to the law, these can be used in Russian prisons - for example if the prisoners resist.

According to a spokeswoman for his team, Navalny's body has now been handed over to his mother.

A funeral will probably take place at the end of the week, according to a post by Navalny's ally Kira Yarmysh on the short message service X.

The extent to which the funeral can take place and the extent to which the public can take part in it does not currently appear to be clear.
