Asylum, district levy, canal: the community of Walpertskirchen has a lot of expenses to cover.
Nevertheless, the financial situation remains “satisfactory”.
Walpertskirchen – Despite high investments, the financial situation in the community of Walpertskirchen is “still satisfactory”.
That's what Mayor Franz Hörmann (CSU) said about the 2024 budget, which was passed at the local council meeting.
Around 3.5 million euros in debt are offset by reserves of around 5.9 million euros, according to Hörmann.
Nevertheless, austerity is important in order to be able to build up further reserves for future investments.
The reasons for this are the diverse tasks, the district levy which has increased by 100,000 euros to now 1.52 million euros, the VG levy which has also increased to 447,700 euros (previous year: 424,470 euros) and higher energy and personnel costs.
You receive 150,000 euros in interest income from the reserves.
A withdrawal from reserves of around 1.5 million euros is currently planned.
The capital budget for investments includes income and expenses at 3.18 million euros and the administrative budget, which covers daily business operations, at 5.52 million euros.
Around 800,000 euros are planned for additional accommodation for asylum seekers.
The extension is expected to be built on Kirchplatz (we reported), but the search for a location has not yet been completed.
When it comes to sewer renovation, the municipality is planning investment costs of 866,000 euros this year.
The area from Eichenstrasse to Heiglweg should now be tackled.
Remaining costs for the Am Hof road are also taken into account.
In addition, 20,000 euros are earmarked to create a structural concept for the aging municipal sewage treatment plant, whose operating license expires in 2028.
As reported, the municipality's plan to connect to the Erdinger Moos wastewater association failed.
A grant of 499,100 euros is expected this year through the hardship regulation for sewer renovation.
They also want to invest in the school: a PV system is planned on the roof for 71,000 euros in order to reduce energy costs.
5,000 euros each are available for new IT equipment and for schoolyard redesign.
The school's building maintenance includes maintaining the fire doors, installing a locking system and cleaning the facade of the new building.
When the children's home was moved into in September 2022, the kindergarten and crèche were combined in one building.
The operating costs for this are billed to the church sponsor.
The municipality covers 80 percent of its deficit.
According to the preliminary budget report, the planned total costs for the new construction of the children's home in the center of the village of 6.3 million euros will be “pretty much achieved”.
Donations totaling 2.74 million euros are expected, with a remainder of 549,000 euros this year.
The funding application was submitted to investigate how the old kindergarten could be used in the future, for example to build a community center there.
For a maximum cost of 60,000 euros, 60 percent of the grant could be approved.
The investment expenditure for the fire department is estimated at 110,700 euros.
Among other things, the gates will be upgraded, including replacing the lighting, and the heating system will be converted.
50,000 euros were budgeted for the development planning of the WA4 development area on Oberhofer Straße.
The renovation of the tennis courts is included at 15,000 euros.
